Mindforce were set to begin their NYC double-header on Friday night (2/16) with a show at Saint Vitus with Balmora, Godskinpeeler, xNOMADx, Discontent, and Gigan Animal Thugs. The show was shut down part of the way through Balmora’s set, however, before Mindforce went on. There’s video of the set up through when it was cut off, which you can watch below, and promoters Miles to Go Presents issued a statement in their Instagram story, saying NYC’s Department of Buildings were behind the shutdown. It reads:
Yo!
I didn’t want to not say something about the Mindforce gig so here ya go..
Without saying too much, yes the show was shut down by DOB – not a fire marshal and not NYPD
If you work construction you know how miserable dealing with DOB can be
Please do not take any frustrations out on the venue.
To me – it seemed like a personal vendetta + attack on the venue. DOB just doesn’t show up at 8 pm on a Friday
We’re potentially trying to figure out a make up date so give us until next week to figure out what’s going on instead of DMing Me, Mindforce or the venue about refunds when the show was shut down not even a hour ago
I’m sorry to Mindforce that they didn’t get to play
I’m sorry to y’all who came out tonight to see Mindforce
And finally I’m sorry to Saint Vitus that they have to deal with this BS
We are also really bummed Vitus has to deal with this, and hope they’re back up and running soon!
Mindforce is scheduled to play TV Eye tonight (2/17) with Inclination, Simulakra, Scarab, Godskinpeeler, and Dimension Six. Stay tuned for info on whether Mindforce at Vitus gets rescheduled.
Korine, who had a late night Synthicide show scheduled at Vitus on Friday night after Mindforce, had their show moved to TV Eye where Escuela Grind, Take Offense, and Brat were playing while Mindforce was happening at Vitus.
