When the transfer market begins, the Premier League is known for splashing out big money on footballers, with Moises Caicedo becoming the most expensive player in league history.
During the 2023 summer transfer window, Chelsea smashed the British transfer record to acquire Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo from Brighton for a cost of £115 million.
Kai Havertz- £75.8 (from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea, 2020)

Mykhailo Mudryk – £89 million (from Shakthar Donetsk to Chelsea, 2023)
Chelsea completed the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk for an initial €70 million, plus €30m in add-ons. Which makes it £89 million in total beating Arsenal to his signature.
Paul Pogba – £89m (from Juventus to Man Utd, 2016)
When the French midfielder was acquired by Manchester United from Juventus during the 2016 summer transfer window, the price set a new record. Pogba was subjected to tremendous scrutiny, in large part due to the money that was spent on him, and disappointed fans with uneven performances.
Romelu Lukaku – £96m (from Inter to Chelsea, 2021)
Lukaku returned to the Premier League in the summer window of 2021. After he left for Inter Milan, the Belgian returned to his boyhood club, Chelsea, breaking the Blues transfer fee, which was held by Kai Havertz.
This deal has been regarded by football pundits as the worst in the club’s history, he was loaned back to Inter just 12 months after moving to London.

The Englishman holds the record for the highest transfer fee in the Premier League. He joined Manchester City from Aston Villa in August 2021.
Enzo Fernandez – £106.8 million (from Benfica to Chelsea, 2023)
Enzo Fernandez overtook Grealish as the most expensive British transfer arrival of all time when he swapped Benfica for Chelsea in the 2023 January transfer window.
The Argentina World Cup winner had only joined Benfica in a €12m deal from River Plate in the 2022 summer transfer window, he emerged as the best young player of the tournament in Qatar.
Moises Caicedo – £115 million ( from Brighton to Chelsea, 2023)
Caicedo was acquired by Chelsea Football Club for £115 million over the course of an eight-year contract, shattering the previous record for the most expensive player ever to leave the English Premier League. According to reports, the Blues paid a base sum of £100 million plus £15 million in performance-based bonuses.
Caicedo‘s contract has a one-year extension option, and Brighton will receive a sell-on clause that has been called “significant” as part of the agreement.
Surely records are meant to be broken and we await the next player(s) that will break all the transfer records.
