nigerian artist mr ez Has been releasing music for over a decade, but he’s only now announcing what he says is his actual debut album. The game has not yet been confirmed, but he revealed that the game will be available on October 27 and pre-orders have already started. He also shared a new single “Chop Time, No Friend” produced by the Ghanaian musician Kilbitz and nigerian producer Andre Vibez. The song features Mr. Eazi’s voice over a rich instrumentation with a gorgeous performance of beat percussion, horns and synths. Regarding this song, Mr. Eazi said:
“Chop Time, No Friend” is a very common Ghanaian saying that you’ll see on the front or side of buses, as is the popular saying “God is great”. It means when you eat, you don’t think about anyone, you just focus on your enjoyment – this song touches on how people gossip about me, but I’m still focused on my enjoyment. It’s a declaration, a celebration of the self. I mean everything I touch turns to gold, you can’t bother me.
“Chop Time, No Friend” is accompanied by a music video filmed in Dakar, Senegal, directed by Allison Swank Owen. Take a look below.
ez and DJ education are also participating in their group ChopLife Sound System their first world tour in support of their own debut album, Choplife Vol. 1: Chronicles of Mzansi. Described as “part studio project, part touring frenzy, the band infuses a distinctively African twist on mobile sound systems, a pillar of Jamaican dancehall culture,” adds Eazi, “It’s all about being awesome. The atmosphere, sound Africa from all over the world, and surprise guests who pop up. It’s about a well-planned party in a great venue, great production. And seeing me from a different perspective, as a performer and host.” The album also featured numerous guests including Focalistic, Anaati, Ami Faku, Moonchild Sanelly, Major League Djz, Mellow & Sleazy, Nkosazana Daughter, 2woshort, Stompiiey, Mo-T and Aymos.
