So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Every week we review some new albums (all genres), round up more new music we call “indie”, and talk about upcoming metal. We deliver music news, track premieres and more throughout the day. We update weekly playlists with some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting new releases.
Sticking to my own – “All the Lies”
Hold My Own, a hardcore Chicago and New Jersey band that includes The Mongoloids, Shattered Realm, MH Chaos, World Demise, and Sector, are preparing to release their new album following their recently released EP, Carried By Six. album. An EP will be released on DAZE later this year. More info to come, but they just shared their shocking lead single, “All the Lies.” Hold My Own is also throwing Texas Weekend without warning (20 Years sick blood) and End It this weekend, they’re playing Philadelphia’s This Is Hardcore and Triple B/DAZE/Streets of Hate in New York.

DJ KOZE – ‘WESPENNEST’ FT. Sophia Kennedy
DJ Koze has had a busy year. In addition to his upcoming album with Roisin Murphy, he has a new EP, Wespennest, due out July 28 on his own Pampa label. The title track of this lullaby, inspired by a stay at a secluded Benedictine monastery in Sulawesi, is sung by Sophia Kennedy.

Andrew Hung (Fuck Button) – “Too Much”

Laura Misch – “Hide and Seek”
laura misch’s debut album sample the sky Released in October, the latest single is “Hide to Seek,” which uses samples from sound designer and composer James Bulley, who recorded the interiors of trees with geophones. “The song is about desire, and wanting someone to speak to a hidden part of you and how we are shaped by that interplay,” Laura said. “The forest undergrowth feels like the perfect metaphor for the subconscious, and it’s an energetic song. I imagine these mycelial threads leading the listener into the world of the album.”

Mick Harvey and Amanda Sevedo – “The Makers of Rain”
Former Bad Seeds Member Mick Harvey Teams Up With Amanda Acevedo for Collab Album blue fantasy It will be released on Mute on September 1st. It has 14 duets, including many cover songs. Creators of Rain was originally recorded by Smokey & his Sister in the 70’s.

Holly Cook – “GOLDEN DUB” (feat. Rosie Turton)
holly cook’s dub fun time Released via Merge on August 11, it features major dub reworks of songs from her 2022 album. This new version of “Gold Girl” stars trombonist, composer and producer Rosie Turton.

Hannah Diamond – “Sure”
London-based artist Hannah Diamond follows her 2022 single “Staring at the Ceiling” with the sparkly, cheerful ‘Affirmations’ produced by David Gamson .

MELLO Music Group – 4 tracks royal hair Compare
Merlo Music Group is launching Chef issued On August 25th, four songs are now available, including songs by YUNGMORPHEUS, Denmark Vessey (ft. Nolan and Fly Anakin), Paradime (ft. Marv Won, Canc3r, Ketchphraze, Danny Brown, Mu and DJ AMF) and Paradime ( Prod. Apollo Brown). MMG is still at the forefront of underground rap, and these songs are a good reminder of why.

Madeleine Kenny – “Blandish Disaster”

British punk duo John have shared another new single. If you haven’t heard this band, and like bands like Mclusky, METZ, and IDLES (with whom they’ve all performed), then you should.

LSDXOXO – “Devil’s Chariot”
Electronic musician LSDXOXO samples Oklou’s “God’s Chariots” on his catchy, soul-stirring “Devil’s Chariot” from his upcoming EP delusional grandeurwhich will be released on September 22 through Fantasy Audio Group (FAG), his new label “for queer artists.”

Destruction Boy – “Shadow (I’m Broken)”
Sacramento’s Destroy Boys shared a poppy garage punk song, “Shadow (I’m Breaking Down),” which the band says is “about compassionately dealing with parts of yourself you don’t like or like but can be toxic.”

VALEE & HARRY FRAUD – “Watermelon Car” (ft. SABA & MAVI)
Valee and Harry Fraud share another single from their upcoming collaboration Grandmastera sleepy rap song sung by Saba and MAVI.

N’DEKHO (Joe Goddard of HOT CHIP and FALLE NIOKE) – “EXILE”
West African singer Falle Nioke and Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard have formed a new project, N’Dekho (“Cousins”), with “Exile” as their debut single. “Fal has such a beautiful voice and singing is so natural to him. We rarely talk about what we plan to do in the studio; we trust each other.”

Dan Auerbach – Every Chance I Get (I Wish You Were In The Flesh)
Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound label is releasing a new compilation titled Tell Everyone! (21st Century Juke Joint Blues) will be held on August 11, featuring tracks by RL Boyce, Jimmy “Duck” Holmes, The Black Keys, Moonrisers and more. Dan also contributed this solo piece to the work.

Commercial – “Victory”
Seattle band AD announced their debut album, Escort, recorded at Ty Segall’s Harmonizer Studios, will be released September 15th. It’s an exciting start.

PANDA & SONIC BOOM – “Vortex DUB”
Panda Bear and Sonic Boom’s amazing collaboration album in 2022, resetalready psychedelic, but even more so now reset in dubbing. To that end, they’ve hired legendary producer Adrian Sherwood, who’s worked with everyone from The Slits and The Pop Group to Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and Mikey Dread, and most recently voiced Spoon’s Version. Lucifer on the couch. This new release features regular ON-U vocal collaborators from Sherwood, including Doug Wimbish and Skip McDonald (Sugarhill Gang, Tackhead), Horseman on drums, Alex White, Mark Bandola, “Crucial” Tony, Ras Badthings, Ivan “Celloman” Hussey, and Matthew Smith.

Gone Twins – “Afternoon X”
The title track on Vanishing Twin’s fourth album has an absolutely killer beat, and Magaletti in particular is a talented and creative drummer, and anyone who’s seen Vanishing Twin live knows that the band built on that A world of eerie cinematic sound. A. SAVAGE (Parquet Court) – “Thanksgiving Prayer”
A. Savage of Parquet Courts has released a new single “Thanksgiving Prayers,” his first solo release since 2017. The single was produced by PJ Harvey collaborator John Parish (who worked on Parquet Courts’ Sympathy for Life), with support from Euan Hinchelwood (Younghusband, Kate Le Bon), violins by Magdalena McLean (Naima Bock), Jack Cooper (Modern Nature, Ultimate Painting) and Dylan Hadley (White Fence).
