Because 2023 is the year of real action
I decided at the beginning of the year that 2023 would be my first year. This year I continued to take care of myself mentally and started to take care of myself physically as well. Instead of making a one-year commitment, I break it down into quarterly goals. Can I do something for 52 weeks straight? Maybe not. But 12 weeks? certainly. The first quarter has gone surprisingly well, and for the next round my main goal is to solidify these new habits into daily habits (for more on how I do this, check out this youtube video). As far as my actual gym routine (and the clothes I wear to my workouts!), you’ll be fine…
my exercise program
I realized that in order to get me up and moving every day, variety is the spice of life. Doing the same workouts over and over definitely makes me find excuses and skip workouts altogether. I’ve been experimenting with more in-person classes at the studio, but eventually, 20-minute at-home classes that I can sneak away are more practical for me. Ultimately, I keep things short and sweet – 20-30 minute workouts are something I can realistically do on most days, so I like to mix spinning and Pilates with some strength training…
peloton – peloton do what they really do, real Excellent. I got my bike a little over two years ago, but in the past three months I feel like I’ve finally gotten into the habit of using it, and I absolutely love it. While I mostly use it now for rotational exercises, I also occasionally do strength training. Considering the price of my spinning class, it was a great deal and I could finish a class in 40 minutes, shower and be ready to go.this Alex Touissant Club Bangers Rides is my current favorite.
fluid form – I have always been fluid form Ever since I had R. Their postpartum program is fantastic and I really trust it to help me recover at a safe pace postpartum. Instead of committing to challenges these days I just browse through their classes to see how I’m feeling that day and aim for what I want to do. With minimal equipment—stretch bands, ankle weights, sliders, Pilates balls, and sometimes a Swiss ball—I found the class prompts good and easy to follow. Without a doubt, the best Pilates online classes.
form – This is new to me, but Instagram ads finally got me, and they offer a 7-day free trial, so I thought why not? These classes felt like a missing part of my everyday life. It’s a HIIT-style workout with light training built in, and it’s one of those “super fast, it’s over before you know it” classes. This is a great addition if you want to combine light cardio with light weights. I’m currently working my way through the “14 Day Reset” challenge, but trying to take two classes a week.
Body Shaping Pilates – This is also a recent development, but I used to love going to the Reformer, I found a local class that wasn’t too difficult for me to go to, and had a lot of classes on the schedule, so I could get up on the first day before everyone got up Go for one thing, or at night after R goes to bed. Nothing – and I say it again – nothing will make you tremble like a reformer course. It’s the kind of workout where you can really feel what you’re doing.
Here’s how everything fits together in a typical week:
on Monday – 20 minutes peloton to rotate
Tuesday – 30 minutes form class
Wednesday – Body Shaping Pilates Class
Thursday – 30 minutes peloton to rotate
Friday – 30 minutes form class
Saturday – fluid form 20 minute lesson
Sunday – off day
My SportswearEdit
It’s no secret I’m whole lululemon* Fan girl. Nobody needs activewear like they do. Good quality, flat cut and functional. If you’re going to get a thing, let it be Align HR 25 Pants* – Best leggings in my opinion. I have the black, java, and olive styles and wear them every time I work out. At home, I tend to wear a bra on top because I get sweaty, and it also helps me check my core to make sure I’m staying focused and not spreading my ribs.i really like it align bra* also, and their Flow-Y Bra* – I always recommend taking one size up for tops as they are very small. Also like everyone ARKET Seamless Yoga Bra* This is easily the most comfortable sports bra I have ever owned.
If you want more belly coverage, check out Lululemon Align Racerback Tank Top* – I recently wore it to class and it was very comfortable.but i also have Classic-fit cotton-blend T-shirt* When I want to wear a t-shirt to class, I can choose black and bone.throw one ARKET soft French terry sweatshirt*, a pair Adanola socks* There’s some left new Balance* I’m ready.
