Gucci Beauty has launched several new products this season and I am reviewing them today! There’s a new shade of Luminous Matte Beauty Blush ($49 each) and a new Summer Lip Gloss ($45 each). This year they’re also launching a new matte foundation called Eternite de Beaute ($69), which seems to replace their satin formula. Finally, I checked out Illuminateur de Beaute ($43), a liquid highlighter I’ve been testing for a few weeks. This roundup covers a lot! If you’re interested in any of them, I hope this review was helpful!
Blush de Beaute Luminous Matte Beauty Blush
Gucci Beauty’s Luminous Matte Blush has been a cult favorite since it launched last year. I still think their price is a bit high, but they perform really well and the powder formula blends into the skin perfectly, giving a soft glow and a matte finish.
Introducing three new shades this season: True Pink, Soft Red and Intense Plum. I think they are really fun for summer! I ordered mine from Sephora.I sampled and reviewed First round of shades here. All three new and the samples I already have are as follows:
True Pink 07 is pale pink. It’s a little too pale for my skin tone on its own, but it can be layered beautifully on top of other blush or bronzer for a brightening pink finish.
Soft Red 08 is not a true red at all, but a brighter coral. This will give the skin a healthy rosy glow.
Intense Plum 09 is a deep plum red. Red blush usually scares me a bit. They tend to be very bright, very strong, very bold. Anyway, I decided to give this a try and I thought I could layer it with other shades.
These blushes are easy to control the pigment. They blend well and are easy to layer without being overdone or heavy. The powder finish is not too powdery – if you’ve used these, you know it blends into the skin absolutely perfectly. The staying power is excellent in these regards.
beautiful light
Currently the liquid highlighter appears to be only available online at Gucci, Selfridges and Harrods. When it appeared online at Gucci, I ordered it immediately. I now have dozens of liquid highlighters and don’t need another one, but I’m really happy with this one. It is a multipurpose highlighter, but I have only used it on my cheekbones so far. Applying with a brush tends to pull out my base color, but dabbing and blending with fingers creates the most beautiful gloss with just the right amount of shimmer/pigment and dries nicely. For me, it’s a solid win.
Eternite de Beaute Matte Foundation
Eternite de Beaute Matte foundation works really well for me. I love its formula and coverage. It has a matte finish, but it doesn’t look drying. It blends perfectly with the sponge and lasts all day. The two downsides for me are the shade selection and the smell for fair to medium skin tones. The heavily scented formula will turn off many of you (according to your information). It is floral and very strong. Luckily it didn’t irritate my skin. I’m wearing shade 305N, and while it’s a good match right now, there seems to be a big gap between 305N and the next shade, 310. On my darker/tanned days, I’ve been blending in Supergoop! The glowing screen in the sunset is a perfect match.
For me it works. But if you’re in between shades and don’t like thicker formulas or want something less floral but still want a matte finish, I’d recommend Tom Ford Traceless Soft Matte Foundation or Laura Mercier Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Foundation .
summer lipstick shades
This summer, Gucci has added new lipstick shades in Sheer, Satin and Matte formulas. Some of them seem to be only available on the Gucci website. You can find some colors at Sephora, Nordstrom, etc. I didn’t order every color to try, but here’s a list of the ones listed as “summer colors” online.
transparent lipstick
221 Candace Ross, 505 Janet Rust, 214 Just Like This, 208 They met in Argentina
satin lipstick
115 Bertha Blossom, 219 Mary Moff, 220 Susan Sunset, 208 They met in Argentina
matte lipstick
217 Valeria Rose, 519 Pauline, 312 Francis Fire, 308 Lucy Deep Orange
New shades I bought:
Bertha Blossom (Satin) is one of the most perfect pale pink cream lipsticks that I have tried. This time around I found a pale pink rose shade with not too white undertones and not too pale. 100% recommended.
Candace Rose (clear) is a beautiful transparent pink rose.
Call It A Day (clear, also available at Sephora) is a pretty fuchsia. I also have it in the Glow & Care Shine formula and absolutely love it.
They Meet in Argentina (sheer) is a stunning warm coral pink. I have this in my Glow & Care Shine formula, but can’t find it in my stash to compare. In my head, the Sheer Lipstick formula is more sheer, while the Glow & Care formula is bolder.
Valeria Rose (matte, also available at Sephora) was one of Gucci’s matte products that I first tried and I was really impressed. Gives completely smooth coverage with just one swipe. Looks and feels expensive and has impressive staying power. I rarely wear matte ones, but depending on how this one finishes, I might check out another shade or two.
I’ve added some swatches of other Gucci lipsticks below:
Overall, there’s a lot to love about Gucci right now. I’m still waiting for the eyeshadow palette combinations I fell in love with to try (their palettes haven’t really been my favourites, so far). Now I really like the new blushes. I’m still undecided on plum because it’s very bold. Every time I use Gucci lipsticks, I wonder why I don’t use them all the time.
Have you tried the newly launched products? What do you think?
