I was a little nervous about the reformulation of Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Liquid Foundation. And I say “epic” without even a hint of sarcasm, because it’s just what it is: Few high-coverage, ultra-longwear foundations can come close to it in terms of build quality, ease of application, shade range, and longevity. The original Teint Idole covers all the blemishes and blemishes—no need for a concealer—yet it somehow manages to avoid wiping out all the vitality of the skin at the same time.Look flexible, comfortable, slightly juicy, but also provides a flawless airbrush finish that completely eliminates redness, dark circles and hyperpigmented areas. It has a subtle glow, an expensive cold glow, but has a velvety matte finish.

Still feel! Oh, the feeling of this thing. It’s soft, it doesn’t settle into lines, it moves with your skin…if ever there was a full-coverage foundation for adults, this is it. So: I’m nervous about reformulating. What will Lancome adjust? What aspects of the original recipe would make us hardcore fans weep? How could Lancôme further perfect a face primer that has been successfully used for decades?
Well, let me tell you; they have. Lancome took the Teint Idole Ultra Wear foundation and made it just as full-coverage, just as soft to apply, and just as long-lasting, and they somehow added multiple skincare ingredients to the mix. do you know? You can actually feel the difference.

After a week of daily testing with the old formula on one side of my face and the new formula on the other (I suffer for my art) I can definitively tell you that the new side of my face feels consistent throughout the day Moisturize. Fuller. The other party doesn’t feel dry, so it feels… normal. There are certain differences. I’m skeptical beyond all polite reasons about the hydrating skincare ingredients in the relaunched formula, but it’s there. It works. My new face feels juicier and more bouncy to the touch, but with the same level of skin coverage.
I really don’t think many (if any) Teint Idole users will be disappointed with the new release. It’s the same great foundation, plus a (very) slightly moisturizing feel. I personally love the extra plumpness because I still get the same coverage, but the skin feels more comfortable and flexible now.
This new formulation of Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear is no Mess with the new Teint Idole Ultra Wear Care & Glow. It’s unbelievably confusing, I wish Care & Glow was just a whole different line, in a way – it’s less coverage and more dewy – but you can easily tell the two apart by looking at the lids foundation.Lighter coverage of white Care and Glow* and black Higher Coverage Idole*.
Interestingly, I prefer how the high-coverage Idole feels on the skin compared to Care & Glow. But the Care & Glow does deliver exemplary high-wattage brightness levels—I personally don’t think I need a highlighter. (Though as a disclaimer, I do feel that highlighter is one of the most overused and abused products in the entire cosmetic world. It looks great, but let’s be honest, in real life, some people look absolutely wilderness. Like a robot. At least it looks very unnatural, which is certainly the opposite of the intended effect. )
I should add, as this is very important, when I use Teint Idole, I use very little product. It really doesn’t need rubbing off, I think it works best when applied lightly from the center of the face and only when needed. A light coat is enough to smooth out most blemishes, dark circles, and areas of redness—check out the before and after pics:
A single layer of foundation, applied lightly with a small powder brush instead of a flat-tipped foundation brush, even partially concealed the eyeglass marks on my nose. These are always a nightmare to camouflage when I shoot because they’re red and Jagged and cumbersome to deal with. Teint Idole is no problem. If I put on another light coat then I just wipe them off completely.
The photos also do a good job of showing the finish: it looks very soft and matte, but has a real glow, not shimmery or shiny, but…expensive looking.this is the real basis yes Primer, continuation with bronzer, then blush…it’s the perfect starting canvas, flawless and smooth.
You can find the new Teint Idole Ultra Wear online at Lancome here*, looks great here* and Selfridges here*. Available in 45 shades, Lancôme has also refined the pigments to create shades that always flatter and enhance skin. No dark undertones. I’m using shade 220C – I used to use 02 from the old formula which was a slightly warmer shade. I’ll do some experiments next time I’m near the counter!
It’s suitable for all skin types and won’t slide off oily patches or form fine lines. If you want to check out the app, here’s a short video:
