Noah Kahan has recruited Hozier for a new duet version of the former’s 2022 track, “Northern Attitude.” Listen to the song below.
Kahan first previewed the collaboration at a Nashville concert last month, during which Hozier made a surprise onstage appearance to assist on “Northern Attitude.” After getting flooded by fan requests for a studio version, Kahan then compiled just a handful of them in a video shared to TikTok: “Taking notes,” he wrote in the caption. He confirmed the news in a subsequent TikTok clip, telling fans: “Unfortunately, you are no longer allowed to listen to ‘Northern Attitude’… The reason is you can now only listen to the version featuring Hozier.”
Kahan shared his excitement in a press release, saying: “If you know me at all, you know this collaboration is something very deeply special and important to me. I used to sit down at the table with my guitar and just try to capture a fraction of the emotion and beauty that Hozier encapsulates in each song he writes. It never quite worked, but each song was better for trying. To have one of my heroes performing this song with me is something I’ll tell my grandkids, or at least my next dog.”
Hozier added: “This song left an instant mark on me when I first heard it, I loved it immediately. I’ve had the great pleasure of getting to know Noah more since we first sang together at Iron Blossom Festival this year, and I’m so glad we could get together on this version of his beautiful song.”
