Today, I am continuing my blush review series with a look at what’s new from Pat McGrath. She’s launching a lip blush called Divine Blush Legendary Glow Color Balm ($29 each), a new luxury four-color eyeshadow palette called Passion Fleur ($62), and a Highlighter Duo Lipstick in Xtreme Cyber Lotus ($58).
I have four balms plus the four balms I tested. You can find them now at Sephora and Pat McGrath Labs.
Divine Blush Legend Glow Lipstick
Divine Blush Legend Gloss Color Cream comes in six shades. I was sent 3 to test and purchased an extra shade to try. These are shimmery, warm twist sticks that deliver soft colors with a dewy glass-like finish. I’m usually not a fan of mild, dewy cheek products. Their finish is often overly smooth, has a sticky feel, and rarely lasts, especially in wet weather.
- Paradise Peonies are a beautiful soft peachy pink
- Divine Rose is a soft rose pink
- Taolian is a soft peach
- Forbidden flower is a berry plum
After testing these I have to say, I don’t think they would work for me, but they are exactly as described, so I don’t think I can give these a bad rating. They’re moisturizing, dewy, and work just like you’d expect from a lip balm. The color shows up when blended, giving you a fresh glow. Unfortunately, it’s too smooth and glassy for me. The texture is thicker, which allows them to adhere to the skin and stay on for much longer than expected. However my hair always sticks to my cheeks.
On lips they are lovely, but I prefer her other lip balm formulas. You can see them in action below. As a skin tone reference, I use Skin Fetish Foundation in Light Medium 14 (reviewed) here). It’s still one of my favorite classic medium coverage foundation formulas.
The color is absolutely beautiful and very wearable. Even if I wear a powder blush on top, the effect is not for me.
Luxe Eyeshadow Quad – Passion Fleur
I ordered the Luxe Eyeshadow Quad from Passion Fleur and absolutely love it. I am not a fan of purple, but the matte aubergine is really pretty and very wearable as a liner or crease color. I think the other glitters in the palette are very beautiful. They are very shimmery, but not shimmery. The staying power is excellent and the shades layer together beautifully. Thumbs up, I kind of love that it’s not the traditional bronze or peach eyeshadow palette you usually see in summer (although I love those shades).
I do think that if you’re a fan of dewy cheek products (and I know many of you are), you’ll love Pat McGrath’s lip balm. If I want to look fresh and radiant, I can imagine myself probably wearing a layer of powder on a good night out. But for everyday use, they are not to my liking.
You can find them now at Sephora and Pat McGrath. have you tried any of these? Do you like creams or gentle cheek products?
