Patti Smith canceled tonight’s show at Duse in Bologna — one of a few Italian shows she’s doing this week — due to “sudden illness,” according to the venue’s Instagram (translated). The Los Angeles Times reports that after being taken to the hospital, Patti was discharged after “a short period of observation in emergency,” according to the statement from the Local Health Authority of Bologna, who added, “Patti Smith is discharged and in good health conditions,” and that they hoped to see Patti back on stage after “an appropriate period of rest.” The Los Angeles Times also published a photo of Patti smiling with the hospital staff.
We also wish Patti a speedy recovery. Feel better!
Patti is scheduled to perform Thursday (12/14) in Venice, and has birthday week shows with her band in Chicago (The Salt Shed on 12/27) and NYC (December 29 & 30 at Brooklyn Steel).
