So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
VIJAY IYER TRIO – “COMPASSION” & “PRELUDE: ORISON”
Vijay Iyer’s trio with bassist Linda May Han Oh, and drummer Tyshawn Sorey have announced a new album, Compassion, due February 2 via ECM. Two shimmering, relaxed tracks are out now.

JOEL ROSS – “NUBLUES (FADE)”
Jazz vibraphonist Joel Ross has announced a new album, nublues, due February 9 via Blue Note. The first single is “nublues (fade),” which starts out in ambient territory before gradually building to a stirring coda.

PESO PLUMA & ANITTA – “BELLAKEO”
Mexican corridos tumbados star and Brazilian pop singer Anitta find common ground in the form of reggaeton banger “Bellakeo.”

PHARRELL – “AIRPLANE TICKETS” (ft. SWAE LEE & RAUW ALEJANDRO)
Pharrell taps Rae Sremmurd member Swae Lee and reggaeton giant Rauw Alejandro for this breezy, rhythmic, genre-crossing jam.

FRED AGAIN.. & BABY KEEM – “LEAVEMEALONE”
Fred again.. samples two Baby Keem songs on this drum and bass/hip hop hybrid. And, as Stereogum points out, there’s also a new Baby Keem short film on Amazon Prime that includes three previously unreleased songs, including one with James Blake called “White Laces.”

FIREBOY DML – “OUTSIDE” (ft. BLAQBONEZ) & “OBAA SIMA”
Fireboy DML’s infectious brand of Afrobeats is in great form on these two new singles.

TEMS – “NOT AN ANGEL”
We’re still waiting on a full-length album from Tems, but meanwhile, she just released this excellent Afrobeats/R&B/soul hybrid.

RINA SAWAYAMA – “FLAVOUR OF THE MONTH” & “IMAGINING” Ft. AMAARAE
Rina Sawayama released a new bonus edition of her 2022 album Hold the Girl, featuring new original single “Flavour of the Month” and a new version of “Imagining” featuring Amaarae.

ARLO PARKS – MY SOFT MACHINE DELUXE
The new deluxe edition of Arlo Parks’ 2023 album My Soft Machine features a second disc with five previously unheard tracks, “I’m Sorry” (ft. Lous and The Yakuza), “Blades” (ft. redveil), acoustic versions of “Devotion” and “Pegasus,” and “Holding On.”

AUSTRA – SWAN SONG SCORE
Austa’s Katie Stelmanis scored her first film, using only a June-106, a Mellotron and her voice.

GUNS N’ ROSES – “THE GENERAL”

SARAH SHOOK & THE DISARMERS – “BACKSLIDERS”
Alt-country band Sarah Shook & the Disarmers have announced a new album, Revelations, alongside lead single “Backsliders.” Read more here.

Spectral Voice (whose lineup includes three members of Blood Incantation) have finally announced their new album Sparagmos, and you can read about the 13-minute lead single here.

BENNY THE BUTCHER – “ONE FOOT IN” (ft. STOVE GOD COOKS, prod. HIT-BOY)
Benny the Butcher has set a release date for his Def Jam debut, Everybody Can’t Go (January 26), and he also released this new single. Read more here.

NO SLEEP TILL CHRISTMAS 10
No Sleep Records’ Christmas compilation is a holiday tradition, and this year brings the 10th one, featuring Good Sleepy giving John Lennon’s “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” an emo-punk twist, plus tracks by Rusted Hearts, Minus Points, 3AM, Instant Crush, Dad Caps, and more.
