Philadelphia duo Korine mix etherial guitars and bouncy synths with anthemic choruses for a style that would be like if the Pretty in Pink soundtrack was condensed down to one duo. Singer Morgy Ramone has the kind of voice that drips of sneery/dejected attitude, coated in just the right amount of Fake British Accent that is perfect for the grey-skied jams on last year’s excellent Tear. Today, they released a Tear remix album featuring contributions from Kontravoid, Small Black, Testamento, FM Skyline and more, and you can listen to that, and Tear, below.
Korine also kicked off their 2024 North American tour with a hometown show last night, and play Brooklyn tonight (2/16) at Saint Vitus as part of the venue’s Synthecide party; Ghost Cop (who also did a Tear remix) are also on the bill. Their tour then hits Baltimore, before heading to California for shows in San Diego, L.A., and Riverside, then they head back for a tour wrap-up at Long Island’s Spotlight at Paramount on March 2.
