Pinkshift have announced a new EP, Suraksha, due October 13 via Hopeless Records (pre-order). The title is a Hindi word borrowed from Sanskrit which translates to “security” or “safety” or “protection,” and singer Ashrita Kumar says, “I grew up listening to in Bollywood and Indian classical music would round out the songs perfectly. Going into the studio, the only thing on my mind was my family, and making these songs was unique because in my head I was making it for them.”
The EP features recent single “To Me,” as well as the just-released “Home” (which you may have seen them play live earlier this year) and a not-yet-released song called “Lullaby.” Like “To Me,” “Home” embraces the band’s slower, grungier side, with a powerfully soaring performance from Ashrita.
