The manager of Chelsea Football Club, Mauricio Pochettino has explained the reason he dropped Moises Caicedo for the game against Bournemouth.
He was speaking in a press conference ahead of the game against the Cherries. According to him, the Ecuadorian had a knock on his knee which he picked up during the first international break of the 2023/24 season.
“Caicedo arrived back with a knock on his knee. We need to assess him in the next few days but he wasn’t available for today, that’s why he not here.”
Moises Caicedo joined Chelsea from Brighton during the 2023 summer transfer window for a record transfer fee (£115 million ) in the Premier League. The midfielder has yet to hit the ground running since he completed his move from the Seagulls.
Pochettino has been hit with injuries to most of his first-team players which saw him bring in some players from the youth team to face Bournemouth. However, he will hope his key players return from injury soon as he looks to ensure that his team becomes competitive.
