Poppy is releasing a new album called Zigzag October 27, via Sumerian Records. She dropped the single “Knockoff” ahead of the LP’s release and her previously announced late summer co-headlining US tour with PVRIS.
Back in April, Poppy teased the new album with a strong lead single and album opener “Church Outfit,” the song of the week.
The only criticism of the song is its rather short duration, although the latest single, “Knockoff,” effectively mitigates that criticism. The second track on the album, the three-minute continuation of “Church Outfit” features a punchy electronic beat and mature industrial-pop production.
Zigzag This will be Poppy’s first record since rejoining Sumerian after a brief stint at Republic Records. The label change signifies Poppy’s move to a heavier, more industrial sound over the years.
“The only thing more exciting than signing an iconic artist for the first time is signing them again when they choose to return home,” Sumerian Records founder Ash Avildsen said at the time.
The Poppy & Pvris tour kicks off August 18th in Seattle and runs through September 14th in Cleveland, tickets are available here.
