So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Every week we review some new albums (all genres), round up more new music we call “indie”, and talk about upcoming metal. The Baroness – “Under the Rose”
The Baroness’s Second Tasting Stone In “Under the Rose,” John Bazley tries out more of a cynical, Jesus-lizard voice before returning to his trademark howl.The band started writing the song during their 2019 session gold and gray. “‘Beneath the Rose’ became a microscopic expression of STONE, a kind of mission statement that hinted at the vast musical territory we covered on the rest of the album. It was also part of a trilogy of songs that also included ‘Choir’ and “Choir.” ‘Elegy,'” John said.

Ryan Castro & Peso Pluma – “QUEMA”
Corridos tumbados star Peso Pluma has already dabbled in reggae with his brilliant “La Bebe” collaboration with Yng Lvcas, but he’s fully embraced old school reggae in his new collaboration with Ryan Castro.

The Pink Panther & Ruin Alone – “Turn Off Your Phone”

Brent Cobb – “Painted”
“During the long tour, my wife Ryan sent me ‘Patina’ one night after the show,” Brent Cobb said of his new single. “Sometimes, if it’s a long run, I worry about being the best father and husband I can be because of being away from so much. It’s hard to keep up with it all. At least, it feels like a night like this in those ways. It’s One of those nights. She wrote it months ago and kept it to herself. All it took was the first line and the way she originally wrote it was “you keep one hand on the wheel” one in On my lap. You have a way of making my heart feel like it’s flying…” It pulled me out of my head and back to reality. It brings me back to the two of us walking down a dirt road with ease. My grandpa’s old Toyota, when we were young and just dating, listened to Otis Redding. All we had then was the present moment. Dangerous Goods – “Twisted Views” and “Strange”
The Hazmats hail from the London punk underground, with members from Powerplant, Big Cheese and Chain Of Flowers, but the band’s sound is similar to janglepop on legendary NME tapes. C-86. This new 7″ has the fantastic “Skewed View” and the even more stunning “Wondered”.

Phoebe Bridgers collaborator Marshall Vore designed, produced and performed indie rock anthem “hometown (edit),” Ada Lea’s first new single from her 2021 album One hand on the steering wheel, the other sewing the garden.

The Beauty Pill – “Perfect Day” (Harry Nelson cover)
DC band Beauty Pill covered Harry Nilsson’s 1977 song “Perfect Day” for the final season of Better Call Saul, but it was never used. The band stated: “When asked to write the song for the show, we chose to reimagine it in a ‘retro-futuristic’ sci-fi style, somewhat akin to Wendy Carlos Williams. Why? Who knows. Artists are weird at times. It seemed like an exciting choice at the time. Clearly, it was a mistake. It was officially rejected by the show’s producers. However, we think the results are still valid and we decided to share them with you all as a bandcamp single .”

Zella Day and Broods sang a lilting song “Hand As My Arrow,” to which Zella said: “It’s a seed of the world, in the cycle and Change is immortal. We are inspired by love to wait on the other side, “it found me on the right track”. Singing this song with Georgia on the record is sisterhood and I can’t wait to sing it again soon.. …”

Helpful People (Red, Mauve, and Cape) – “Bugs From Below” and “Broken Blossom Menace”
Helpful People is a new band from Glenn Donaldson (The Reds, Pinks & Purples, Skygreen Leopards) and The Mantles’ Carly Putnam, both of whom played in the short-lived but excellent Bay Area indie-pop group Art Museums. Donaldson said their influences were “intros, strange poetry, fuzzy pedals”. Check out two songs from their debut album, Broken Blossom MenaceNow.

Andrew Byrd – “MO TEEF”

West Coast hardcore band Crashing Forward to release silent for so many years Released October 10 by Indecision Records, the lead single “No Rights” is a crisp 88-second Ripper anthem.

Fast, aggressive, unpretentious hardcore, Boston hardcore band Fraud have just released an EP on Ohio-based label Delayed Gratification Records.

Rob Moos – Excerpts FT.Sarah Barreles
“I met Sara Bareilles in 2017 when I had the opportunity to arrange a few of her songs for Ben Folds’ ‘Demystified’ series at the Kennedy Center,” Rob Moose said of the latest single from his new EP Said. “During rehearsals, I was amazed by her voice. She was radiant, emotional, and never out of place, and she seemed to be in perfect harmony with the orchestra, and my creative wheels started spinning. A few months later, I attended the Paul Simon I was looking for a creative meditation outside of the show. I asked Sara if there was any material that hadn’t found a foothold yet and she sent me “excerpts.” I was at the Hotel Van Zandt in Austin Immersed in this song, spent two days exploring a path in it, seeking to rebuild the harmonic skeleton, while allowing the song to float and its rhythm to slowly emerge. I didn’t realize it at the time, but Sarah’s voice, trust and generosity ushered in inflorescence The EP came into this world and set me on a path of creative exploration that I hope to continue to pursue for years to come. “
