We’re excited to announce the first-ever BrooklynVegan showcase at NYC festival New Colossus happening Thursday, March 7th at Knitting Factory at Baker Falls on Avenue A in NYC. Those with us for a while will remember our annual NYC showcases at CMJ (RIP), and though we never stopped doing many-band shows (see SXSW), it’s been fun to get back into the game in our hometown in this way.
For this one we dove into the pool of bands playing the fest and invited a few more to create a bill of EIGHT bands that we collectively would love to see right now. From Prewn (who appear on our Best of 2023 list) to up-and-coming Burlington band Robber Robber (who made Indie Basement’s Best Songs of January), the show spans multiple varieties of indie rock from folk and janglepop to shoegaze (Mx Lonely) and punk (Montreal’s NOBRO)
Berlin’s Meagre Martin (high up on Gorilla Vs Bear’s 2023 list) are fresh off a tour with Alt-J and stopping in NYC just to play this show before heading to SXSW.
Also playing: Montreal’s La Sécurité, who were the best band Bill saw at M For Montreal 2023, and strummy, jangly UK band Holiday Ghosts (whose new album is out in March). After midnight we go goth with Silent Mass (fka Ammo) helping us get in a dreamy state with a set of their dark, ethereal music.
