RIDE / CHARLATANS
Ride and The Charlatans are back for a second go-round of their co-headlining tour where they will play their albums Nowhere and Between 11th and 12th, respectively, in full. Last year’s tour was fantastic. It kicks off tonight in San Francisco and hits NYC on January 18 at Webster Hall.
KOKOROKO
London based eight-piece Kokoroko, who are signed to Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings, are finally crossing the pond for some live shows. While a full tour is still to be announced, they’ll play NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge on March 20, which is currently set to be their US live debut.
NELS CLINE
Wilco’s Nels Cline is celebrating his 68th birthday today (January 4, happy birthday!) and will soon be on a short East Coast tour with Consentrik Quartet (Ingrid Laubrock, Chris Lightcap + Tom Rainey) that includes a NYC show at Le Poisson Rouge on February 8. He’s also got shows in Marlboro, NY and Philly.
DUCKS LTD
Toronto duo Ducks Ltd will release their anticipated second album in February and have a few dates ahead, including festival appearances at at NYC’s New Colossus and Boise’s Treefort.
SID SRIRAM
Indian musician Sid Sriram, who released his Def Jam debut last year, will be on tour in North America starting March 2 in Minneapolis, and his tour now includes a second Brooklyn show at Music Hall of Williamsburg on March 9 (He also plays MHOW on 3/8). All dates are here.
THE WHITNEY ART PARTY 2024 (MGMT & SAMANTHA URBANI DJ SETS
The 2023 edition of The Whitney Art Party happens January 30 from 9 PM – 12:30 AM. The museum describes the gala benefit as “an unforgettable night immersed in the beauty of nature” where those who shell out at least $250 can “experience the enchantment of our botanical theme,” have the run of the place and dance to sets from late-’00s survivors MGMT and Samantha Urbani. JOHN WATERS 78th BIRTHDAY SHOW
Filmmaker, author and trash auteur John Waters turns 78 on April 22, and he’ll be celebrating at NYC’s City Winery for a night of stories and more.
