Multi-venue CA comedy festival SF Sketchfest will return on January 18-February 4, and they’ve announced another insanely stacked lineup for its 2024 edition. Leading it is Monty Python member Eric Idle, who will be joined by Jeff B. Davis (Whose Line Is It Anyway?) for his first North American show in 7 years. According to the press release, the one-night-only performance will include “music, conversation, and scene — including the world premiere of a never-before-seen Monty Python sketch.”
A tribute to Kyle MacLachlan featuring Twin Peaks‘ the Giant/Fireman actor Carel Struycken will focus on the series’ music, with The Red Room Orchestra performing music from the soundtrack, and from MacLachlan’s other projects, and also feature “surreal interactions and conversation” with MacLachlan. In separate events, The Red Room Orchestra will also play the Harold and Maude soundtrack with Margaret Cho and Petra Haden, and The Lost Boys soundtrack with Tim Cappello.
Other tributes include an afternoon with “The Amber Ruffian Show” host Amber Ruffian (who will speak with Zainab Johnson), and a night celebrating “Derek and Simon” featuring Derek Waters, Simon Helberg, Bob Odenkirk, Naomi Odenkirk, Jake Johnson, and Eric Edelstein.
The lineup of comedy and music also features The Kids in the Hall, recently reunited ’90s comedy troupe The State, Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy (covering R.E.M.’s Murmur), Pylon Reenactment Society, Adam Pally, Whitmer Thomas, Open Mike Eagle and Video Dave, the Middle Aged Dad Jam Band with Ken Marino and David Wain, Maria Bamford, Todd Barry, Joel Kim Booster, David Cross, Jo Firestone, Solomon Georgio, Jon Glaser, Judge John Hodgman, Marc Maron, Eugene Mirman, Paul F. Tompkins, Jenny Yang, Dave Hill, and still more.
New podcasts appearing at the festival include Paul Giamatti‘s Chinwag with Stephen Asma, Team Coco podcast Scam Goddess with Laci Mosley; How Long Gone; The Pen Pals Podcast with Rory Scovel and Daniel Van Kirk, MESS with Sydnee Washington and Marie Faustin; Triumph the Insult Comic Dog’s Let’s Make a Poop with guest “Weird Al” Yankovic, and even more.
