Sinkane (Ahmed Gallab) has announced a new album, We Belong, which is out out April 5 via City Slang. It’s his first in five years and Gallab says it’s a “love letter to Black music,” drawing influence from funk, soul, afrobeat, disco, and more. The album includes contributions from Money Mark, singers STOUT, Bilal, Hollie Cook, and Tru Osborne, saxophonist Casey Benjamin, guitarist/producer Mikey Freedom Hart, Phony Ppl’s Aja Grant, and more.
The album includes last year’s “Everything is Everything” and the new single is the very disco “How Sweet Is Your Love,” which was co-produced by Money Mark. Ahmed says it’s “about remaining in the present and feeling all of your feelings as fully as possible. It dares you to prove the sweetness of your love, to your loves!” The video was directed by Bao Ngô and shot at Bushwick’s Sultan Room. You can watch that below.
Sinkane will be on tour this spring, starting in NYC at Bowery Ballroom on May 3, and West Coast dates include Nevada’s Schellraiser fest. You can also catch Sinkane at SXSW in March. Tickets for headline shows go on sale Friday, January 26 at 10 AM local time.
