Nashville’s snooper just released their debut album, super sniff, through a third person. It’s hyperactive mutant punk sugar, and most songs hang around for a minute, draining you. You can listen to the full album below.
We asked Snõõper to tell us more about the album, and they came up with a list of 10 inspirations that included other artists (Machine Girl, The Spits), TV, caffeinated drinks, and more. There’s even an effect on their bugs (as seen on their album art). Read the list and reviews below.
Snõõper – 10 influences behind super sniff
1. The Sopranos
For us, the show was the perfect intersection of fashion, negotiation and waste management.
2. Soft trash
It’s the best venue you’ve never heard of in Nashville, supporting all artistic disciplines, musical, visual and non-traditional approaches. They have been very important to us from day one!
3. Wayne White
Wayne White, from Tennessee, designed the sets for Pee Wee’s Playhouse. He is an inspiration for cardboard as a medium.
4. Yerba mate tea
We brewed a big pot of yerba mate while fleshing out the song to what it is now. Super caffeinated and delicious!
5. Bread Puppet Theater
The Bread and Puppet Theater uses inexpensive materials to create art. We bought a book on how to make a puppet backpack and brought the bug back to life!
6. Mechanical Girl
Machine Girl’s live show is one of the most energetic and inspiring live shows we’ve ever seen. They are on our list of dream travel buddies.
7. sesame street
The early animation style, video and puppets and everything about the show is disgusting.
8. Trader Joe’s Orange Chicken
Connor does this perfectly. You have to do this in a skillet or wok, and make sure you make your own rice. Never cook it in the oven.
9. Toast
Their complex songwriting is more extensive and impressive than Beethoven’s. Their voices outshine Lennon or McCartney. They have produced with the highest quality recordings known to man, and their synths are straight out of a George Lucas film.
10. Gardening
Being able to control your surroundings and help/watch things grow to their best is incredibly rewarding and relaxing. Shout out to Gladiolus!
