LA hardcore festival Sound and Fury went down in Exposition Park this past weekend (July 29 & 30), and judging by videos we’ve seen, the fest drew huge crowds and had tons of highlights and surprises. Among them: Ceremony did a surprise set entirely made up of songs from their 2006 powerviolence debut LP Violence Violence, including some songs that haven’t been played in a long time and one that Setlist.fm says had never been played before. Trapped Under Ice played on day two, with longtime drummer (and Turnstile vocalist) Brendan Yates back on drums, and Turnstile bassist Franz Lyons made a guest vocal appearance. Turnstile’s recent tourmate Travis Barker was there too.
Twitching Tongues played their first show back, and were joined during multiple songs by Brody King, who also plays with the Young brothers in God’s Hate (who also played). Cold World, Gel, Fury, Speed, Big Boy, Pain of Truth, and others put on wild-looking sets too, and non-hardcore band Model/Actriz got the crowd going as crazy as some of the hardcore bands.
Day one had on-stage barriers set up that were knocked down by fans on multiple occasions, that Lambgoat reported was a decision made day-of by the Fire Marshall and not repeated on day two.
We’ve rounded up a bunch of videos and some setlists from the fest, and we’ll update as more sets are posted. Check them out below…
