SPELLLING, the art-pop project of Bay Area musician Chrystia Cabral, is releasing a new album called Spelling and Mystery School Released August 25th via Sacred Bones. To celebrate the news, Cabral shared the record’s first two singles, “Cherry” b/w “Under the Sun.”
mystery school Some unconventional approaches were taken. These tracks are not a series of entirely new songs, but rather re-imaginings of songs already on the SPELLLING disc. These new releases are now recorded with her entire touring band, taking audience feedback into account, and Cabral now “understands what excites them and/or what makes people want to dance more.” The album was produced by Del Sol Contributions from the Quartet, Divya Farias, Jaren Feeley, Patrick Shelley and more, pre-orders are in progress.
“With this album, I wanted to capture how these songs morph,” Cabral said in a press release. “They were like my children, growing up at different stages of life and I wanted to celebrate that. I’m proud to say it’s by far my favorite thing I’ve ever created, and working on it has really contributed to the SPELLING sound opens up new and exciting visions of the future.”
