Steve Albini’s “20 Songs” list includes Killdozer, Stevie Wonder, The Birthday Party, The Proclaimers, more

Steve Albini has joined the fray in posting a “20 Songs” list to Twitter. “Tried not to include any I worked on,” he wrote before noting he made an exception for Nina Nastasia. Albini’s list includes stuff you might expect (Killdozer, The Birthday Party, Didjits, Naken Raygun, Wipers, DAF) and some you might not, like The Proclaimers‘ “500 Miles.”

After he posted his list, he wrote, “It’s weird doing a list. Like there’s no Specials on there but I fucking love the Specials. How did I make a list of 20 songs and not put ‘Monkey Man’ on there? There’s no instrumental music, no Sandy Nelson, no Shadowy Men, no Link Wray, all of which bring a smile to my face.”

As for The Proclaimers, he replied to someone who mentioned other songs by the Scottish sibling duo, saying “It’s nice to like things, and I’ve tried but it’s just the one song for me, honestly.”
