Milwaukee ska-punks Something To Do announced last fall that their new album Here Comes the Panic would be arriving in early 2024, and now it’s officially set to come out this Friday (1/5). You can hear it sooner than that, though–a full stream premieres in this post. It finds Something To Do at their most direct and hard-hitting, and the band shines some light on why that is:
During the time we wrote and recorded these songs, we got to play with a ton of great acts – Mustard Plug, Flying Raccoon Suit, Catbite, Joystick, Devon Kay & The Solutions, The Pilfers, The Von Tramps, Space Monkey Mafia in MPLS and many more – and I think it subconsciously got us thinking about really digging into our core sound. Over our last few albums, we’ve done a fair amount of stretching and have had some pretty long albums – this one really got the “all killer, no filler” treatment. We’ve been a band for a long while and we’ve put out plenty of albums and this may have actually been our easiest one ever in terms of writing/arranging/recording, which feels kind of insane! There is some sort of secret magic in having a group of people who’ve worked together for a long while still want to bring their A-games and still give a shit about new music and while I can’t claim to fully understand why it feels like we really hit the nail on the head here, it feels like we did.
