So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
TEENAGE HALLOWEEN – “GETTING BITTER”
Teenage Halloween have shared another revved-up taste of their anticipated sophomore album Till You Return, and this one was written and sung by bassist Tricia Marshall.

ANGEL DU$T – “BORN 2 RUN”
Angel Du$t’s recent singles have showed off a return to a more aggressive vibe, but their upcoming album Brand New Soul still embraces the jangle pop side of their last two albums, and the gorgeous “Born 2 Run” is a great example of that.
—
BEWILDER – “TWIN LAKES”
Bewilder have shared “Twin Lakes,” a slowcore-ish dose of indie rock and the second single from their upcoming album for the relaunched Tiny Engines.
—
DYLAN LEBLANC – “NO PROMISES BROKEN”
Singer/songwriter Dylan LeBlanc will release a new self-produced album, Coyote, on October 20 via ATO. Its first single is a lovely Americana/folk song called “No Promises Broken.”
—
AL MENNE – “BETH”
“I wrote ‘Beth’ as a way to sort through someone else’s lived experience,” Al Menne says of the latest single off their debut solo album, Freak Accident. “This song is a familial love letter to someone I’ve felt rather estranged from even though there is an exterior presentation that ‘everything is fine.’” It features Christian Lee Hutson on piano and guitar, and Nico Levine of Jodi on pedal steel.
—
JEREMIAH CHIU – “IN ELECTRIC TIME”
Synthesizer wiz Jeremiah Chiu will release new album In Electric Time on September 29 via International Anthem, and its first single is the ethereal title track, which closes the album.

HOVVDY – “TO ME IT WAS” (SAMIA COVER)
The latest taste of the Honey Reimagined series, featuring artists’ covers of songs from Samia’s 2023 album, is Hovvdy’s rendition of “To Me It Was.” “‘To Me It Was’ is one of a few songs on Honey that existed in a bunch of different iterations before its final form,” Samia says. “I wrote it with Christian Lee Hutson a year before we started making the record. We both played separate versions live in our sets a few times. When I first started playing it out it was this big rave up of a rock song. In the studio and in the context of the record the song just made more sense stripped down, with this really warm back porch feeling. Hovvdy turning it into a bedroom pop song feels exactly right – the perfect middle ground.”
—
CHEEKFACE – “PLASTIC”
“This song is about being an implacable people pleaser and the miracle of 3D printing,” says Cheekface vocalist/guitarist Greg Katz of the band’s new single. “Originally, when me and [bassist] Mandy wrote it, it had a lot more bongos in it. But cooler heads prevailed, for better or worse.”
—
FIELD MEDIC – “You DESERVE ATTENTION”
“The initial feeling of writing the song was one of falling out of love, which leads to the chorus where I’m imagining my partner out having fun and potentially meeting someone else,” Field Medic says of the final advance taste of his new album, light is gone 2, out this Friday. “Those thoughts stem from anxiety at first, until I realize that they’d be better off with someone who can give them the care and affection they deserve, because all I was doing at the time on any given day was drinking alone in my room. I didn’t love myself enough to love someone else.”

TAPIR! FT. LITTLE WINGS – “GYMNOPÉDIE”
London-based sextet Tapir! released thei Act 2 (Their God) EP today and have shared the video for its gossamer single, “Gymnopédie.” Says the band’s Ike Gray, “Something like Gymnopédie became so grandiose and camp, it’s definitely one of the songs on the album that resonates with me the most emotionally, but this EP is probably my favourite as it pulls the most inspiration from biblical and mythical sources – Eidolon being stolen from a Walt Whitman poem, Gymnopedie being stolen from Erik Satie and Broken Ark being stolen from the bible. I wrote most of the songs a long time ago but I love how they have all found a way of working together and fitting into the narrative of the project.”
—
AMANDA PALMER & THE RIGHTEOUS BABES – “THE LAST DAY OF OUR ACQUAINTANCE” (SINÉAD O’CONNOR COVER)

WILL BUTLER + SISTER SQUARES – “STOP TALKING”
“This is one of the ‘dream songs’ on the record. Emotion in dreams; dreams in reality; tired and confused,” Will Butler says. “‘Stop talking; there’s nothing to say’; not sure if it functions as a dismissal ‘Stop!’, or as a sign of love ‘You don’t have to say it; I already know’; I think, like a lot of communication between people who love each other—a little of both? Like, this song is full of fear; someone expressing fear to their partner, and the partner being like, ‘There’s nothing to fear, and also, shut up, quit being crazy.’ That’s not exactly it, but there’s something of that here.” Will Butler + Sister Squares release their self-titled debut on September 22.

DANESHEVSKAYA – “BIG BIRD”
After signing to Winspear earlier this summer, Daneshevskaya has announced a new album for the label, Long Is The Tunnel, due out November 10. The lead single is “Big Bird,” about which she says, “I wrote ‘Big Bird’ on GarageBand on my phone. It automatically loops when you use it on your phone so the song ended up being a loop. When I showed the demo to Artur, Ruben, and Hayden, I said we could turn it into a full song but they were into the loop. The lyrics are about when a big bird swoops down and everyone in the area stops to look at it together. I like moments like that where everyone is childlike and curious.”
