The Chemical Brothers have shared another preview of their upcoming tenth studio album For That Beautiful Feeling. This time, it’s the new single “Skipping Like a Stone” featuring Beck.
“Skipping Like a Stone” — The Chemical Brothers’ second collaboration with Beck — is billed as “a perfect union of celestial melody, warped noise, country-soulful vocals, and relentless rhythm.” It begins with some almost Gregorian-like backing vocals, but it’s not too long before the snappy breakbeat kicks in and Beck’s voice becomes the lead.
The song has some pretty straightforward, uplifting lyrics: “When you feel like nothing really matters/ When you feel alone/ When you feel like all your life is shattered/ And you can’t go home/ I’ll come skipping like a stone,” Beck sings as the slightly-psychedelic instrumentals start to warp a bit behind him. For That Beautiful Feeling is out September 8th via Republic. It also includes the electronic duo’s previous singles “No Reason” and “Live Again,” as well as a new mix of their 2021 track “The Darkness That You Fear.” Their last LP was 2019’s Grammy-winning No Geography.
