Shabaka Hutchings‘ electronic-leaning trio The Comet Is Coming have been out on tour this summer before they “return to near earth orbit to allow Betamax, Danalogue and Shabaka to concentrate on other pathways of artistic exploration,” and they stopped in NYC on Wednesday night (8/2) to headline a free SummerStage show in Central Park. For Hutchings, it was a return to the venue after he’d played there last summer with Sons of Kemet as part of their last tour.
Wednesday night’s show also featured French twin sisters Ibeyi, and poet Aja Monet, who did a spoken word performance accompanied by a trumpet and singer. See pictures from the night by Ellen Qbertplaya below.
