DC label For Love Of Records has released a new covers compilation, Yesterday & Today: DC Does Dischord, and among other things, it features the first Dismemberment Plan recording in over a decade, a cover of Circus Lupus‘ 1992 song “Unrequited.” The band says that they recorded it this past August, and that it marked the first time they played together in nine years. Does that mean more D-Plan action is on the way? Let’s hope.
The comp also includes Ted Leo covering Shudder To Think‘s “Funeral at the Movies,” The Pietasters covering Minor Threat‘s “Look Back and Laugh,” J. Robbins covering a song that his former band Government Issue released before he joined, “I’m James Dean” (also released on a covers EP this past fall), and over 20 others. Listen to the whole comp below. A portion of the proceeds from sales will benefit We Are Family DC.
Last year, D-Plan bassist Eric Axelson and drummer Joe Easley released the debut album by their new band Milliseconds.
