Thomas Cantwell’s 10 Favorite Albums of 2023
Steve Marino – Too Late To Start Again
Steve wrote such an amazing record that makes me feel so happy and the songs are stuck in my head all the time. I listen to this record all the time and often when I’m stressed, and it’s truly relaxing.
Militarie Gun – Life Under the Gun
This was my most listened to record of the year. The song writing is so great, and it still gives me goosebumps every time I listen.
Full of Hell/Nothing – When No Birds Sang
Two of the coolest bands making an insane melodic and noisy masterpiece. It was going to be impossible for these songs to be bad so no one should be surprised it’s amazing and beautiful.
9million – Gush
I was lucky enough to tour with this band recently and can confirm that these songs live are just as awesome as the recording. The guitar work is super impressive.
Powerplant – Grass
Powerplant is my favorite band. Unique and great songs. Really rocking live band as well with super solid execution.
Nuovo Testamento – Love Lines
This record is so cool. I love all the synth sounds with the heavy electronic drums.
Yves Tumor – Praise A Lord Who Chews But Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds)
Probably my favorite Yves Tumor record so far. Perfect mix of gothy post punk and modern pop music.
Mary Jane Dunphe – Stage of Love
These songs are so great and equally matched with their intense emotional live show.
Everything But The Girl – Fuse
The song Nothing Left To Lose is probably my favorite song ever. Amazing music.
Narrow Head – Moments of Clarity
This band is so badass. I feel like this record really captures their live sound perfectly. Really strong guitars, great drumming and catchy dynamic vocals. These guys rock so hard.
