blink-182‘s Tom DeLonge has shared a new trailer for his upcoming directorial debut, Monsters of California. The clip reveals more about the storyline than the teaser trailer that came out last year, as it follows a guy and his two friends trying to get to the bottom of his dad’s disappearance. The assumption: aliens, UFOs, and/or government conspiracies are involved. And as he’s already revealed, DeLonge’s love of skateboarding and his juvenile sense of humor come through as well. The trailer is soundtracked by eerie clips of blink-182’s “Aliens Exist.”
“The film takes my fascination with the unexplained, combines it with the skate culture I grew up a part of, and tosses in my ridiculous sense of humor that millions got to witness during my blink-182 days,” DeLonge said in a statement. “In recent years, I’ve had the good fortune of helping the government remember how much they care about UFOs through the work we do at To The Stars, and it’s that experience which helped inspire this movie. I can’t wait for audiences to see the fucked up fun adventure these kids go on.”

The film stars a mix of new and familiar faces, including Richard Kind, Casper Van Dien, Arianne Zucker, Camille Kostek, Gabrielle Haugh, Jack Samson, Jared Scott, and Jack Lancaster. It was co-written by DeLonge, Ian Miller, and Ben Kull, and produced through DeLonge’s To The Stars Media along with Stan Spry and Eric Woods of Cartel Pictures. It also features original music by Angels & Airwaves/Nine Inch Nails drummer Ilan Rubin and was co-produced by DeLonge. It comes out Oct. 6 in select theaters and on-demand.
Meanwhile, blink-182 have been teasing new music that is seemingly expected to arrive on Sept. 21.
