So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
RUNNNER – “TEN” & “ELEVEN”

NAILAH HUNTER – “BLEED”
Nailah Hunter’s debut album Lovegaze is out this Friday, and she’s shared a final advance single ahead of its release. About the video for “Bleed,” she says, “Capturing the essence of profound human emotion through silent movements has always captivated me, and watching dancers effortlessly do so has been a source of admiration and envy. In creating the visual accompaniment for ‘Bleed,’ a song that delves into the depths of heartbreak, I sought to mirror the intensity of total surrender. The vast and tumultuous sea became the perfect backdrop, symbolizing the dramatic threshold that echoes the theme of the track. The concept of ‘death by the sea’ has long stirred my emotions, drawing inspiration from powerful images such as Miguel Carbonel Selva’s Safo, viking burials, and the poignant stories of enslaved Africans who chose to jump overboard, seeking liberation from unimaginable horrors.”

SHEER MAG – “MOONSTRUCK”
Philly’s Sheer Mag are really stretching their wings on upcoming album Playing Favorites. “Moonstruck” is full-on pop, and danceable at that. “‘Moonstruck’ is about how invigorating it is to have a new crush,” says guitarist Matt Palmer. “After too long lost in the wilderness, it’s gratifying to find a beacon of tenderness to help reorient yourself in the maze of love. Written in 2021 and originally intended for a disco EP, ‘Moonstruck’ has been reworked as a more expansive and lush arrangement and features some of our favorite guitar work on the new record.”

HOLLY MACVE – “1995”
Holly Macve’s new EP Time Is Forever is due out February 2 via Loving Memory Records / Believe. It features her Lana Del Rey collaboration “Suburban House,” and she’s now sharing the gorgeous “1995,” which she calls “the most hopeful song I’ve ever written.” “I had just come back from a US tour and was feeling excited and at peace with love and the idea of the future for the first time in a long time,” she continues. “It was written on the same piano as ‘Suburban House,’ and about 6 months prior, so little did I know the ship was about to be rocked. But I think I managed to encapsulate that content feeling into the song and I just hope people will feel that when they listen.”

OMNI – “PLASTIC PYRAMID (FT. IZZY GLAUDINI OF AUTOMATIC)”
“‘Plastic Pyramid’ was one of the first songs written for Souvenir,” Omni say of their anticipated fourth album. “It took a while to figure out what arrangement worked best. We tore it apart and pasted it back together again a number of times before settling on its current form. Our friend Izzy Glaudini of Automatic graciously agreed to sing on the track, making it the very first Omni duet. We hope you like it.” Souvenir is out February 16 via Sub Pop.

TORRES – “WAKE TO FLOWERS”
“I’m familiar with the disappointment that frequently follows hope,” Torres says of her new single “Wake to flowers.” “People are frighteningly resilient. We are regularly optimistic and regularly shattered by the want of something, maybe something that takes all our might and energy and then still doesn’t happen. But have you ever been anxious that things weren’t going to turn out the way you hoped, or maybe you weren’t very optimistic, and then you got everything you wanted? I feel like this happens a lot but I don’t hear it acknowledged very much. Everything I have now is something I once fought and longed for—this song is my way of keeping myself aware of that all the time.” It’s from her anticipated new album What an enormous room, out later this month.

DRY SOCKET – “KEEPER”
Portland, OR hardcore band Dry Socket will release their debut LP Sorry For Your Loss on January 26 via To Live A Live Records. CHEMTRAILS – “BANG BANG”
Manchester’s Chemtrails will release their third album, The Joy of Sects, next week via PNKSLM and you can get a taste via this glammy slice of mutant pop. “We wanted to write a kind of Kinks-style song from the point of view of a bragging crypto bro, bigging themselves up and flaunting their piles of cash,” say the band. “It’s fun singing lyrics that stand against everything you believe in. The plot twist at the end is that the protagonist reveals all the hype was a lie, and they actually have nothing at all, but still believe that they’re ‘going to the moon’ eventually.”
—

We did a lot of touring with Eugenius in the early 90’s (no longer Captain America after Marvel Comics threatened to sue). I’ve always LOVED this song since it came out on a Eugene solo single.
