Toyah Wilcox and Robert Fripp‘s saucy Sunday Lunch series, where they cover guitar rock classics in their kitchen in various states of costume (and undress), began as something fun to do during the pandemic but became a YouTube hit, spawning a fall UK tour.
Now it’s apparently being developed into a movie. Or maybe more than one. Via Ultimate Classic Rock, Toyah gave an interview with eonmusic, where she suggests a documentary and fictionalized movie are in the works. “We have a documentary crew following us, and we have quite a big production company scripting an idea at the moment,” she said. “We won’t be in it. It’s for actors to play, but that’s all in the back kind of pool of what do you call preproduction. All of that’s going on.”
When pressed on details, Toyah said, “I mean, movies take years, you know, for the even scripts to be accepted, so who knows what will happen?” As they say, stay tuned.
Meanwhile, the Sunday Lunch tour starts at the end of the month, and they’re still putting up their kitchen cover versions on Sundays. Toyah also says she’s contributed to producer Trevor Horn’s new album, singing on a cover of Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s “Relax.”
