Tracii Guns of LA Guns fame presents a new band: the Blackbird Angels. the band’s debut album, sorsotarriving September 8, with lead single “Shut Up (You Know I Love You)” available now.
Guns formed the band with Todd Kerns, known for his work with Slash and Myles Kennedy. Given Guns and Kerns’ musical pedigree, “Shut Up (You Know I Love You)” hits the expected sweet spot of melodic hard rock with a hint of ’80s glam metal. For Los Angeles Guns fans, a listen needs to be heard.
“Todd and I have wanted to create a record for about a decade, and we finally did it, and it’s everything I’ve ever hoped for,” Gun said in a press release. “With the addition of [drummer] Adam Hamilton, it’s pure magic. For live performances, Johnny Martin will play bass and Sam Bam Colton will play guitar. “
While Guns’ legacy is forever tied to the ’80s due to his growing up with Axl Rose (becoming “Guns” in “Guns N’ Roses”) and the success of the Los Angeles Guns, the Blackbird Angels owe more to Tracii A tribute to core influences, namely decades before he came along (namely Led Zeppelin, Peter Frampton and Bad Company, according to the band’s press release). Kerns threw himself into the project with all his might.
“I’ve always been an admirer of Tracy,” he said. “When he proposed this project to me, we were still in the throes of the pandemic, and I really felt the need to make as much music as possible when we were all facing such an uncertain future. As it turns out, this Not only was the record a cathartic experience, it became one of my favorite pieces of music I’ve ever been a part of. It was raw, real, and powerful. I couldn’t be more excited for people to hear it.”
