Turnstile have tapped BADBADNOTGOOD, the Canadian jazz-fusion group, for an EP collaboration. The three-track EP called New Heart Designs reworks three tracks from Turnstile’s 2021 album GLOW ON — “Mystery,” “Alien Love Call” (ft. Blood Orange), and “Underwater Boi.” (It’s in a similar spirit to their 2020 EP with Mall Grab, which featured clubby remixes of three Time & Space songs.)
New Heart Designs opens with a chilled-out “Mystery,” which feels similar to the alternate intro of the song that Turnstile have been playing on tour, and then goes into a percussive, psychedelic take on “Alien Love Call,” and an upbeat, jazzy rework of “Underwater Boi.”

The whole EP comes with a video shot on tour by Fiddlehead/Basement member Alex Henery, who’s also Turnstile’s touring photographer. Henery also edited it and co-directed it with Turnstile vocalist Brendan Yates.
