The body governing football in Europe, UEFA, has announced the winner of the best coach of the year 2023.
The manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola was named winner of the award following his fantastic performance last season. The Spaniard led the Cityzens to winning a treble last season, a feat that has been achieved by only a few managers in the world.
Guardiola was announced as the winner of the award during the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League group stage draw ceremony in Monaco on Thursday, August 31, 2023. Guardiola beat former Napoli manager, Luciano Spalletti and Inter Milan’s manager, Simeone Inzaghi to win the award.
Manchester City supporters will hope they can replicate their form last season and defend their title as the Champions League would commence in September 2023. City have been drawn in an easy group with Young Boys, Crvena and Leipzig.
Guardiola was chosen from a jury that comprised the 32 coaches of the clubs that participated in the group stages of the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League, along with 55 journalists selected by the European Sports Media and one from each of UEFA’s member associations.
