UK duo Jungle released their new album Volcano back in August, and as a companion piece, they made a feature film. Like the band’s dazzling, intricately choreographed music videos, the Volcano film’s official synopsis calls it a “dance masterpiece that unfolds within the realm of a mystical television studio.” More:
Featuring a stellar cast and a breathtaking score, Volcano ignites the screen with its explosive performances and emotional depth. Will West returns to play the lead and delivers a mesmerising portrayal, capturing the essence of a conflicted artist torn between loyalty, ambition, and his ongoing romantic narrative with ‘Julia’, played by Mette Linturi. We find them disconnected and on opposing sides of an ongoing dance competition between two groups within our TV Show. The chemistry between the rival dancers crackles with intensity, revealing the complexities of human connection in the face of fierce competition
Volcano was directed by Jungle’s J Lloyd and frequent collaborator Charlie Di Placido, and all the dance sequences were performed and shot in single takes. Watch the trailer below.
Volcano is getting its NYC premiere on November 27 at both Nitehawk Prospect Park (8 PM) and Nitehawk Williamsburg (9:30 PM). The screenings are part of the BrooklynVegan-presented Music Driven series.
