One day after playing a very intimate Philadelphia show in stripped-down duo form, Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally headed to NYC and Beach House opened Night 6 of Yo La Tengo‘s Hanukkah 2023 run at Bowery Ballroom. For these duo shows, which they say they’re planning to do more of around the country in 2024, they’re sticking mainly to their first three albums. Seeing how their last NYC shows were at King’s Theatre, this was a rare treat to see them up close.
Victoria Legrand also joined Yo La Tengo for their all-Velvet-Underground encore, coming out to sing “Pale Blue Eyes,” which closed out the night. You can watch video of that cover below.
