Tons of artists have paid tribute in the wake of Sinéad O’Connor‘s untimely passing last week. Among those: Foo Fighters and Alanis Morissette covered Sinéad’s “Mandinka” at Fuji Rock fest in Japan. They performed the song, from Sinéad’s 1987 debut album The Lion and the Cobra, during Foo Fighters’ headlining set on Saturday (7/29). Frontman Dave Grohl introduced the cover saying, “We’re singing this song for a reason.” Alanis added, “For a beautiful woman, high intelligence and deep empathy, way ahead of her time, who’s no longer with us — this is for her.”
