Joni Mitchell‘s return to the stage–with Brandi Carlile by her side–continues. She tested the waters by performing two songs at last year’s MusicCares’ Person of the Year event, then played a surprise Joni Jam set at Newport Folk Fest 2022, then did another Joni Jam at The Gorge in Washington this past June, which marked her first official headlining show in over 20 years. Brandi joined her at all three of those events, and Brandi also invited Joni on stage for the last three songs of her ‘Brandi Carlile & Friends’ show at LA’s Hollywood Bowl on Saturday (10/14). They played “Shine,” “Ladies of the Canyon,” and “Circle Game,” with other Friends involved too. Watch below.

Joni also made a surprise appearance at the Herbie Hancock-led Wayne Shorter tribute concert at Hollywood Bowl in August.
