Shoegaze greats Slowdive are in NYC currently and played their first of two consecutive shows at Webster Hall on Wednesday night (9/27). They’re touring for their terrific new album everything is alive and played four songs off of that, but didn’t skimp on the rest of their discography, playing five songs from their masterpiece Souvlaki, three from their fantastic 2017 self-titled comeback, early single “Catch the Breeze,” Pygmalion’s “Crazy for You,” and their cover of Syd Barrett’s “Golden Hair.” You can watch fan-shot video of the entire show, and check out the setlist below.
Drab Majesty are opening these Webster Hall shows, but for those hoping Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell would join them for their great collab “Vanity,” it did not happen Wednesday night. Perhaps she was too busy hanging out with Gregg Araki and James Duvall. Maybe we’ll get it tonight when Slowdive and Drab Majesty play Webster Hall again (it’s sold out).
