SNÕÕPER
Nashville punks Snõõper have announced fall tour dates in support of their debut album Super Snõõper, including including stops in Memphis, Nashville, Milwaukee, Chicago, Kansas City, Tulsa, and more. Snõõper also play NYC on September 3 at TV Eye for the third annual Bands, Bikes & BBQ party, which also features performances by THUS LOVE, TVOD, Scout Gillett, Dana, Balaclava, Van Vreeland, and more. WESTLIFE
Irish boy band Westlife only scored one US hit (1999’s “Swear It Again”) but were massive in their home country and the UK. They’re coming over for their first-ever North American shows around St Patrick’s Day 2024, including Toronto, Boston, NYC (Radio City Music Hall on March 16) and Chicago.
THE CULT / DEATH CULT
The Cult will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of their Death Cult early incarnation of the group — and their post-punk origins — with a special Los Angeles show and UK tour. The shows, titled Death Cult 8323, will be centered around Death Cult and their eponymous EPs, but will also “boast a setlist that spans the three phases of the band, from Southern Death Cult, to Death Cult, and The Cult’s first two albums: Dreamtime (1984) and Love (1985).”
WHEN WE WERE YOUNG SIDE SHOWS
Las Vegas’ When We Were Young holds its 2023 edition on October 21 & 22 with the same lineup playing each day. They’ve just announced the club Side Shows featuring Fit For A King, The Devil Wears Prada, Something Corporate, All Time Low, Gym Class Heroes, Sum 41, Bowling for Soup, and more.
SYSTEMATIC DEATH
Japanese hardcore legends Systematic Death will celebrate their 40th anniversary with two nights at TV Eye: October 7 with Razorheads, Headsplitters and Niuta, and October 8 with Destruct, Dieja, and Cross.
FYA FEST
Tampa hardcore festival FYA Fest returns for its 10th year on January 6 and 7, and the lineup includes Trapped Under Ice, Dying Fetus, Sunami, Incendiary, Pain of Truth, Twitching Tongues, Militarie Gun, Mindforce, Never Ending Game, and more.
THE 1975
After some festival dates, including Lollapalooza and and Outside Lands, earlier this month, The 1975 begin their “Still…at their very best” North American tour in September, and they’ve added a few new dates.
FREE THROW / PRINCE DADDY & THE HYENA / CHARMER
Emo bands Free Throw, Prince Daddy & the Hyena, and Charmer are hitting the road together this fall, with additional support from Saturdays At Your Place on the first leg and Blvck Hippie on the second.
THE STATE
’90s comedy troupe The State are slowly — very slowly — adding dates to their “Breakin’ Hearts, Dippin’ Balls Tour” including two in NYC where they got their start.
COLIN JOST / MICHAEL CHE
The SAG/WGA strike doesn’t look like it’s going to end anytime soon and some late night hosts are hitting the road with their topical comedy while they don’t have a nightly/weekly monologue. SNL Weekend Update anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che will play a “Saturday Night in NYC” at Radio City Music Hall on October 14.
BCMC (COOPER CRAIN & BILL MACKAY)
Cooper Crain of Bitchin Bajas and guitarist Bill MacKay have collaborated on an album, Foreign Smokes, under the name BCMC and it will be out in October via Drag City. They’ll also be playing some shows in October, hitting Ioway City, Chicago, Miwaukee and more. All date are here.
INDIEPLAZA 2023
Indieplaza, the free festival presented by Rough Trade and Rockefeller Center, returns for a second year — though only one day instead of two — on Saturday, September 9 at The Plaza at Rockefeller Center. This year’s lineup is: Nation of Language, Narrow Head, Video Age, Death Valley Girls, Crime in Stereo, DEBBY FRIDAY, Miss Grit, and more.
THE ARMED
Following their set supporting Queens Of The Stone Age at Forest Hills Stadium on Saturday, The Armed have added a NYC headlining show in November to their upcoming tour supporting their new album Perfect Saviors.
ZOMBIE PROM
Halloween will be here before you know it and here’s another option for NYC: The Too Many Zooz Zombie Prom at Le Poisson Rouge which also features a set from Ghost Funk Orchestra.
PETER MURPHY DROPS OFF CELEBRATING DAVID BOWIE
Peter Murphy has dropped off of the Celebrating David Bowie 2023 tour due to “ill health and doctor’s orders to rest and recover.” The tour had already been postponed in March when Peter underwent an “unexpected medical procedure.” Says Peter: “I sorely regret not be able to play concerts at this time. I am sure the CDB shows will be great.”
