So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
LOU BARLOW – “CONVOY” (CW McCALL COVER)
“Good news! I did another faithful cover of a novelty mega-hit from the 70s for the latest RAW show,” Lou Barlow declared on Instagram. “Here’s a hint, in this pic I’m holding a cheap plastic microphone (from the 70s!) to replicate the sound of a C.B. radio! can u guess the song?? can ya? ……that’s right! CONVOY!!! of course!” The story of Rubber Duck and his truck driving buddies — which spent six weeks at #1 in 1976 — sounds just a little more sad through Barlow’s interpretation.
ADAM MILLER (EX CHROMATICS) – “CAMERA”
“To me a song is never over and I love to explore all the possibilities of where it can lead me,” says former Chromatics member Adam Miller of this new single. “When I began performing live with Inner Magic, we started incorporating reimagined versions of some of my favorite Chromatics songs into our set and this minimal, more guitar heavy version of ‘Camera’ just felt so great on stage that we decided to record it.” Miller’s debut solo EP, Illusion Pool, is out this week.
YAEJI – “EASY BREEZY”
As she begins her European tour supporting this year’s With a Hammer, Yaeji has shared a new single, about which she says, “‘easy breezy’ feels like a sequel that weaves a thread through my past releases (and my past selves). ‘Learning to let go’ – something i learned from ‘For Granted.’”
