Like they did in London and Brooklyn, Dinosaur Jr are celebrating their 1993 album Where You Been? with a multi-night runs in the Pacific Northwest. Also like in the other cities, they’ve bringing out a bunch of special surprise guests, which in Portland included Isaac Brock (who guested in NYC, too), Stephen Malkmus, and members of The Dandy Warhols. The band hit Seattle on Wednesday, and that included appearances from Soundgarden/Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron for “Yeah We Know,” and Mudhoney‘s Mark Arm came out to cover Stooges “Real Cool Time” and “TV Eye.” Those you might expect in Seattle, but more surprising was Dave Matthews, who joined Dinosaur Jr for a cover of Neil Young & Crazy Horse’s “Cortez the Killer.” Watch that and more from the show below.
In other news, Dinosaur Jr frontman J. Mascis appears on the latest episode of Matt Sweeney‘s YouTube series Guitar Moves. On it, Mascis “shines light on the origins of his guitar playing, Dinosaur Jr.’s influential sound, and gives an up close look at some of his favorite guitar moves.” You can watch that below.
J. Mascis will release his anticipated new solo album What Do We Do Now in February.
