So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
HOLLIE COOK & PRINCE FATTY – “YOU KNOW I’M NO GOOD” (AMY WINEHOUSE COVER)
Back in 2012, British music magazine Q released an Amy Winhouse tribute compilation with the magazine featuring covers of her songs by a wide variety of artists. Hollie Cook and Prince Fatty’s breezy, reggae rendition of “You Know I’m No Good” is now coming out as a 7″ single and it’s hit streaming services too.

THE BLACK KEYS – “I FORGOT TO BE YOUR LOVER”
The Black Keyes have shared a second song from their upcoming album Ohio Players. This is a cover of William Bell’s “I Forgot To Be Your Lover” which was a hit for Billy Idol in 1986. Their renditions features Budos Band’s Tommy Brenneck and Monophonics’ Kelly Finnigan.

THE LOVELY EGGS – “MY MOOD WAVE”
UK garage rock duo The Lovely Eggs are back with this catchy new single. “‘My Mood Wave’ is kind of an internal thought monologue,” says Eggs singer and guitarist Holly. “It’s a brain on a surfboard, trying to navigate the barrage of daily shit that gets washed up each day. It’s a coping mechanism handbook for people who sometimes find the world too much.”

SIMULAKRA – “HEATHEN’S PRAYER”
Ahead of their Queens show with Mindforce (and NJ/MA shows with Incendiary), metallic hardcore band Simulakra have announced a new EP, Reincarnation, due March 15 via DAZE. Here’s the heavy, cathartic lead single “Heathens’ Prayer.”

J NOA – “ERA DE CRISTAL”
Dominican rapper J Noa has stayed prolific since releasing her Autodidacta EP last year, and she kicks off 2024 with new single “Era De Cristal,” which finds her both rapping and singing in somber, pensive mode over a beat from Trooko (Residente, Bad Bunny).

LATTO – “SUNDAY SERVICE”
Atlanta rapper Latto goes in a nostalgia-inducing, ’90s-style direction on her minimal new song “Sunday Service.”

YUNG MIAMI – “50/50 FREESTYLE”
Last week, JT of City Girls dropped a new solo song, and now her partner Yung Miami has a new freestyle.

ULVER – “A CITY IN THE SKIES”
Following December’s Ghost Entry,” Ulver have shared a second new single, “A City in the Skies,” and it finds them continuing down the Depeche Mode-style goth rock path.

GIRL IN RED – “TOO MUCH”
girl in red announced her second album, I’M DOING IT AGAIN BABY!, due out on April 12 via Columbia Records, and the first single is “Too Much.” “I’ve always been told I’m too much,” she says. “Throughout my whole childhood and in my adult years. Getting shut down when I’m at my happiest or most excited made me feel self-conscious, alienated, and weird. It wasn’t until I encountered the same feeling in my relationships, that I realized how much it actually hurt me to never feel fully accepted for who I am. As well I think culturally people tend to be too cool to have fun or to show true excitement and emotions, and I’m so tired of that facade.”

BLOCKHEAD – “SCUMLORD”
Fresh off releasing his new album The Aux, NYC rap producer Blockhead has already announced another album, Luminous Rubble, due May 3 via Def Pressé Editions. The first single is “Scumlord.”

NARDO WICK – “SOMETHIN’” (ft. SEXYY RED)
Florida rapper Nardo Wick taps the increasingly huge Sexyy Red for his latest single.

GLORILLA – “YEAH GLO!”
Fast-rising Memphis rapper GloRilla drops her first single of 2024 with “Yeah Glo!”

JLIN – “AUSET”
Jlin’s new album Akoma is out next month, and the latest single is the frenetically-paced “Auset.”

BORIS – “SERIAL TEAR” (COALTAR OF THE DEEPERS COVER)
Boris and Coaltar of the Deepers are both Japanese bands who mix metal and shoegaze in various ways, and now they’re releasing a split LP with new original material as well as each band covering each other. Boris’ “Serial Tear” was released today.

MY DYING BRIDE – “THORNWYCK HYMN”
Doom/gothic metal veterans My Dying Bride have announced their 15th album, A Mortal Binding, and the first single is out now. Read more here.
