Who saw this one coming? Les Savy Fav are back with “Legendary Tippers,” their first new music in 14 years! “When we finished our last record, there was a sense that if we were going to do more, we wanted to do something more ambitious,” says frontman Tim Harrington. “I think it took us a while to even get in a space where that was possible.”
“The band was never a job, so we can’t get fired and don’t have to quit,” Harrington adds. “We had the time to figure out how to bring the people we’ve become and the people we are as artists together authentically. There’s a chaotic, untethered ecstasy at the center of the band’s universe. Squaring that with the desire to create stability and the need to endure some grind isn’t easy.”
“Legendary Tippers” sounds like the Les Savy Fav you remember: danceable, fun and no small amount of sass from Harrington. The video was directed by Matt Conboy, who directed the documentary about DIY space Death by Audio (which he helped run), and it tips its hat to Bob Dylan and the days of Brooklyn yore. LSF’s Andrew Reuland edited it, and it’s a lot of fun. Watch below.
Apparently there’s more to come — the video description says “from the album LSF:OUI” — so stay tuned. Les Savy Fav also have European tour dates leading up to their appearance at Primavera Sound, and those are listed below.
