We’re still waiting for word on the fall 2024 North American tour she’s planning, but ahead of that, PJ Harvey returned to NYC on Tuesday (11/7) for her first show in this part of the world in six years. The event, “I Inside the Old Year Dying: Poetry, Conversation, Music,” featured a conversation with New Yorker writer Amanda Petrusich, and as Flood Magazine reports, they discussed PJ’s hiatus from music and how she fell back in love with songwriting through poetry, and specifically through writing Orlam, her novel-length epic poem written in the nearly-lost Dorset dialect.
PJ was also joined by John Parish and James Johnston to perform five songs from her new album I Inside the Old Year Dying, as her drawings were projected behind her (she also wore a dress custom-embroidered with her artwork).
