Singer-songwriter and one third of I’m With Her, Sarah Jarosz, is gearing up to release her new album Polaroid Lovers, which is due out January 26 via Rounder / Concorde. The album was produced by Daniel Tashian, who also co-wrote a few songs, as did Ruston Kelly, and Natalie Hemby. You can check out “Jealous Moon” and “When the Lights Go Out” below. Sarah was also just on CBS Saturday Morning, where she and her band performed four songs, and you can watch those below as well.
With 2023 wrapping up, we’ve been asking artists about their favorite albums of the year, and Sarah sent us her Top 10. Read her commentary for each below.
SARAH JAROSZ – TOP 10 ALBUMS OF 2023
10. The Fungi Sessions Pt. 1 – Hannah Read
Calming, woodsy instrumental tunes inspired by Hannah’s late father who was a leading mycologist.
9. Weathervanes – Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit
Jason continues to show that he’s one the best songwriters out there.
8. Snakes of Paradise – Bridget Kearney
Soulful, groovy, and well written songs that keep you coming back for more.
7. Guts – Olivia Rodrigo
Catchy, fun, melodic – what more could you want?
6. Seven Psalms – Paul Simon
Gorgeous writing and particularly stunning guitar work from one of the greatest to ever do it.
5. Celebrants – Nickel Creek
They’re always pushing the envelope, and this album is no exception. Revelatory musical ideas abound throughout this 18 song collection.
4. Dusted Beauty – Jacksonport
One of the most gorgeous albums I’ve heard in years. Unique sonic textures and memorable, poignant songs. An instant classic.
3. Last Chance To Win – East Nash Grass
The best bluegrass album I’ve heard in years. Killer songs, and astonishing singing and playing from this great band.
2. The Weakness – Ruston Kelly
Ruston is one of my favorite songwriters and always delivers albums that I want to listen to from start to finish. I had this on constant repeat as soon as it was released.
1. Fish Bowl – Kate Davis
My most listened to album of 2023. Kate is one of a kind and her songwriting is so creative and inspiring.
