So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
OR BEST OFFER – “JACKET”

LIQUID MIKE – “K2”
Liquid Mike, aka Marquette, Michigan’s Mike Maple, has announced details of new album Paul Bunyan’s Slingshot, which will be out February 2. “I’ve always thought it was funny how many Midwest towns claim to be the home of Paul Bunyan or have some sort of connection to him because they’re always the smallest little towns. This album is about living in a place like that.” “K2” is the latest power pop peak to be released from it.

Dream pop duo Softcult have shared shoegazey new single “Heaven.” “This song describes a world where everyone is accepted for who they are, where one’s background or identity does not dictate how they are perceived by society, where privilege and advantages are recognized and shared to build stronger communities, and a society that celebrates diversity, difference, and otherness as strengths,” they say.

J MASCIS – “SET ME DOWN”
Dinosaur Jr‘s J. Mascis has shared “Set Me Down,” the second single from his upcoming solo album What Do We Do Now. The style of this album, acoustic but “full band” with piano and a few ripping leads/solos, is very appealing and perfect for J’s weary vocal style.

FAT WHITE FAMILY – “RELIGION FOR ONE”
“Abject narcissism is our only real code of conduct anymore,” says Lias Saoudi of Fat White Family’s first song in four years. “Everything is thinly veiled self-interest. The post-modern post social media condition constitutes a complete death of outwardness. We are smothered by the infinite present. We have swapped art for the history of art. The game is up. The party’s over…NO SURRENDER!”
