Sunny Day Real Estate have released their first new song in 10 years, “Novum Vetus.” It’s their first new song since they released “Lipton Witch” on a 2014 split 7″ with Circa Survive, and it’s a song that was first born during the recording sessions for 1998’s How It Feels To Be Something On. Original members Jeremy Enigk, Dan Hoerner, and William Goldsmith finally recorded it recently at Seattle’s London Bridge Studio with current guitarist Greg Suran and bassist Chris Jordan, alongside their upcoming live-in-studio version of Diary. It’s a seven-and-a-half minute song that you could easily picture fitting on How It Feels, and it sounds pretty fresh and amazing in 2024 too. Check out the song and its visual below. Diary – Live at London Bridge Studio (“Novum Vetus” included) comes out on May 3 (pre-order).
Sunny Day Real Estate are also going on a Diary 30th anniversary tour, including NYC’s Irving Plaza on May 15. Tickets go on sale today (1/26) at 10 AM. Since announcing the tour, they also announced that they’re playing the Bourbon & Beyond festival.
